Module 4

The Student-to-Graduate Journey

This module considers the whole student-to-graduate journey. The first Unit considers the different elements of the transition from being a student to being an employed graduate, including the features of that transition, and the barriers students might face. It considers the transition from ‘getting in’ to work and ‘getting on’ in work and being successful. It explores Career uncertainty and the impact that can have on the transition, and approaches to goal-setting that can help individual students and graduates take ownership of their transition.

The second Unit considers the fundamental elements of graduate development, particularly from an organisational point of view. It considers the stakeholders in graduate development and the impact of organisational learning cultures. It considers how we can incorporate our understanding of adult learning behaviours into how development is designed and delivered, and offers some suggestions of tools and approaches to support review of your existing graduate development programme.

IMPORTANT: Both Units in this module should be completed before attending the in-person workshop Graduate Development: Need, Value, Impact.
