Module 2
Work Readiness
This module introduces you to the concept of Work-Readiness and the important role it has in preparing students and early career graduates for work and success at work. SAGEA members know that recruitment is only the start, and that not every early career graduate is equally ready to embark on their development journey or understands the importance of professionalism. In particular, this module considers the impact of the transition in learning styles from the ‘teaching’ approach of education to the expectation of adult learning behaviours in work.
The first Unit of the module explores the barriers that students and early career graduates may experience to developing their Work-Readiness, and the steps that can be taken to enable them to understand and take responsibility for their Work-Readiness. The second Unit considers the role of a Skills and Attributes Framework in structuring and developing Work-Readiness, and considers global approaches to such Frameworks. This includes the World Economic Forum C21st Skills Framework, which has been used by SAGEA to discuss skills and attributes.
